Ubuntu 20.04.3 desktop (Cinnamon) - SSH disconnects when user logs off the desktop!

Well, the reason I installed Cinnamon is that I cannot understand the working
of the default (Focal-Fossa) desktop at all. I do not find any way to go to
administrative tools or the like.
With Cinnamon all of that is a breeze and everything can be found.
I tried it just now but I failed to even find where the power and screensaver
settings are handled.
Maybe I should scrap this altogether and atsrt over installing Ubuntu-Mint (or
is it Ubuntu-Mate?) instead. That has an understandable basic user interface in
any case...

I have spent many hours today trying in vain to fix this problem. And it *HAS*
to be fixed before I deploy the computer to my summer cottage, where we just got
fiber installed so I can place a server like this and still have access to it
from home. But it will rely on a person NEVER having to handle the device
physically!
