Replace Network Manager with dhcpd on headless system - any issues?

I have an xubuntu 21.10 system that is going to become headless.

While I *could* leave Network Manager installed it seems to me that
it's overkill as the system has only a single hard-wired ethernet
interface, no WiFi.

I have several Raspberry Pi systems which have just dhcpd on them so I
know how to configure dhcpd for either static or dynamic IP.

Is this just a matter of uninstalling Network Manager and installing
dhcpd, then configuring dhcpd for the type of IP acquisition needed?
Is anything else needed?
