What modern hardware is well supported?

I'm thinking of putting together a small, fairly low power, backup
system to provide a 'warm backup' of my home server.

The home server is nothing exotic, just a Fujitsu Esprimo with an i5
processor and 8Gb of memory and Intel graphics.

So what's a modern[ish] equivalent, are the AMD Ryzen processors well
supported yet and, if so, what graphics hardware is too?

The Fujitsu Esprimo is still perfectly OK for my needs, enough power
etc. so something similar is fine.  The Esprimo consumes less than 20
watts when idle, I want my backup to be better if possible.

I'm happy to buy components if that make sense, though nowadays I'm
not sure if it does unless one has a very specific requirement of some
sort.
