Is it a good idea to install 21.04 of a Thinkpad T420?

The entire Thinkpad range is quite easy to take apart (unlike recent
Lenovos), AND you can generally find complete maintenance manuals
online. These have step-by-step instructions on getting into the units
and replacing anything field-replaceable:

About the only bit that's tricky is applying 0.2g of thermal grease. In
non-technical terms that's a tad less than a smidgin :-)

So I'm guessing it will probably be quite easy to clean the fan. Or
take it to a professional to clean. You have got your money's worth out
of that device - maybe you should give it a second chance, like an old
horse :-)

Regards, K.
