How did you determine that the update was stalled?

If the update installed new linux-firmware or a kernel, it's going to
take some time to generate a new initramfs image for each installed
kernel and the firmware, which will seemingly pause the update until
those tasks are completed. Plus, if you have any out-of-tree kernel
drivers for your hardware that has to compiled and installed via the
DKMS system, that will also add quite a bit of time to the update.
