Editing grub boot menu, how to save?

Hi,

A couple of things I would like the Linux and GRUB ecosystem to support
would be some other support variables in /etc/default/grub.


For instance:-

1. A variable to set a short string that gets displayed at the very top of
the screen, next to the GRUB version information. Useful when dealing with
different computers.

2. Some way to set a short string that gets displayed next to an O.S. name.
Useful for when multibooting.
