Updates are never forced on Ubuntu.

That’s not so.
For compatibility reasons, and regression test, I kept a dedicated machine at 16.04.
About 3 months ago, it got upgraded to 18.04 without asking.
It does boot, but little works, and becomes catacomic after an hour.

As I also have a specific 18.04 machine, this was obviously not something I want.

Ps. On all my machine I have my daily checks for updates turned off.

So, forced updates DO happen on Ubuntu.
