Instead of a solution, this may be at least a temporary work-around.
When I couldn't get sound working on my current system by trying to
do everything right, I tried doing things wrong and that worked. In
my case, plugging my speakers into the headset jack was the magic
ticket to full sound. No idea why.

If nothing else, hopefully you can just mess around and plug your
devices in incorrectly and maybe accidentally get things working.
Meanwhile, I hope someone else will jump in with the actual solution.
