If you're working from a GUI, use the "Software & Updates" settings
dialog box to find the best/fastest mirror server.

If the errors come back, just do it again.

If you're on a server or want a permanent solution, you can edit your
/etc/sources.list file so that it looks for the fastest mirror every
time. I've done this on my home server. I am not sure if the time
saved offsets the search for the fastest, but it makes such problems
go away forever.
