I did. It is Ubuntu *Server* though, so there are very few. No
desktop. I followed a guide; I don't remember which one but it may
have been:

I advise avoiding Brave. The browser has a nasty history of rewriting
links to financial benefit the project:
https://davidgerard.co.uk/blockchain/2020/06/06/the-brave-web-browser-is-hijacking-links-and-inserting-affiliate-codes/

It deals in cryptocurrencies, which is a very bad thing:

https://www.zdnet.com/article/brave-browser-the-bad-and-the-ugly/

The project is run by a American man who has been involved in anti-gay
marriage activities:

Who paid for a campaign against gay marriage:

On the other hand, I have noted some IMHO tasteless religious comments
in your email sig before, so perhaps you approve of that. :-(

He is also a COVID "sceptic":

I would not allow this tool anywhere near my computer.

If you want an all-FOSS Blink-based browser with no Google tracking,
there is Chromium in the repos.

If that Google-sponsored product is too much, try Iridium:

https://websetnet.net/how-to-install-iridium-browser-on-ubuntu/

Or GNU IceCat:
https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuzilla/

Vivaldi is also pretty good.

But I personally pay for a Google One account, so I use actual Chrome
for Google stuff and Waterfox for the rest.
