I've fussed with this on an old Panasonic Let's note laptop, and I don't
remember everything, but I think I tried adding the jackd patchpanel and
was sort of able to patch an output to an input, but it was really
unstable. Would quit recording almost immediately.
Reading between the lines, it looks like the loops required to be jumped
through to get around the DMCA hardware in some devices also require a lot
of concurrent processor power (more cores than I have).
