disk encryption for Ubuntu 20 LTS

Subject: disk encryption for Ubuntu 20 LTS

I am very new to *nix:    I bought a laptop with pre-installed
Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS  focal
longer ago, but it's only been 3 days since I did more than
just booting it and making sure it could do some basic things.

I am now trying to set up encryption for it.

Does

also work for    Ubuntu 20 LTS  ?

Is there some  simpler or otherwise better
way for    Ubuntu 20 LTS  ?

Regarding encryption, only encrypt what you need to encrypt.
Don’t waste cpu cycles on what is publically available, like the core of the O.S.

Remember full disk encryption only protects when the system is “off”.

Most people could encrypt the homes of the users (each individually, and only mounted after login, with pam_mount)
And another vault that opens/closes after specific activities.
