Is a command available to free space of deleted file

Once the fill is closed the disk space will be freed up.  Something still have 
the file open, most likely the X server.  You will have to "exit" the X server 
to free up the disk space.  In other words, you need to log out of your X 
session.

You really should not have deleted that file before looking at it.  There is 
(obviously) some error you should be paying attention to.  What will likely 
happen is that when you log back in, .xsession-errors will start to grow 
again.  When it does *LOOK AT IT* before deleting it.  It is there for a 
reason -- it is there to tell you there is an error somewhere in your XSession 
code.
