Brand new install of Ubuntu 20.04 on a ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus
motherboard with a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor, 128 GB of RAM and a GeForce
video card. My monitor is connected to the video card via a HDMI cable.
The Nouveau driver is being used for the video card.
System boots fine to the login screen. After logging in, the screen goes
black and I receive a message on my monitor stating, "Resolution Not
Supported."
To troubleshoot, I booted into recovery mode and the resolution there
appears to be 1024x768. In /etc/default/grub, I set GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768
and GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep and then ran sudo update-grub.
Even after setting those parameters, the login screen appears to be at a
higher resolution.
Any suggestions to keep the login screen at a lower resolution and the
screen resolution at a lower resolution after logging in would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you,
