sudo dmidecode --type bios
produces
# dmidecode 3.1
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 3.3.0 present.
# SMBIOS implementations newer than version 3.1.1 are not
# fully supported by this version of dmidecode.
Handle 0x0000, DMI type 0, 26 bytes
BIOS Information
Vendor: INSYDE Corp.
Version: 1.07.04
Release Date: 11/03/2020
followed by a few dozen more lines.
On the bottom of my laptop, I see a sticker which says
MODEL: NV41MZ
and also has
CLEVO CO.
just above
MADE IN CHINA
.
I tried searching that with support and/or
bios update or "bios update" ,
and mainly find clevo-computer.com .
I also find clevo.com.tw , but
that does not come up when I search Clevo in general
and
my understanding of how web-addresses work is that clevo.com.tw
is part of com.tw rather than part of a site named clevo
and
com.tw does in fact bring up a site
.
clevo-computer.com seems far more likely to be legitimate,
but I just sent a Support message to
the seller (thinkpenguin.com) to check.
I do not have a classic manual on paper.
I also do not know the key - or any other way -
to enter the CMOS setup program, although I could
probably get that information from the seller.
Thankyou,
Eric Demer
