Much likely the default file manager of "Ubuntu" is another than the
one provided by "Kubuntu". The way settings are handled could be
completely different. Sometimes there are human readable configs in the
user's home directory and sometimes the binary blob "dconf" is used. A
lot of people call "dconf" disdainfully "(Windows) Registry". Anyway,
by one way or another it's possible to restore default settings what
ever flavour is used, but we can only provide help, if we know what
exactly is used.
