The Sinclair QL was... different. You could get hold of later versions of
the QDOS ROMs, if you knew where to look.

After Sinclair was bought out by Amstrad, a bunch of ex-Sinclair
programmers and other enthusiasts got hold of the last QDOS ROM's source
code (version "MG") and created an improved version called Minerva (version
"JSL1").

They called themselves "The QView Megacorporation" and Minerva was...
gorgeous :)
