After posting my last previous post, I thought the most appropriate
thing for me to do, regarding this, would be to again start the
distribution upgrade process, upon the computer upon which it went
awry, and, take screenshots at each step, to show what I had observed,
to publish the screenshots on one of my web sites, and post the link
to the page linking to the screenshots, so they could be analysed.

However, when I shut down all the open application windows, and ran
the Software Updater, it came up with a different window, with a
recommendation to perform a partial upgrade, so, I have commenced
that, on that computer.

When whatever will complete, has completed on that computer, I will
try the upgrade from 19.10 to 20.04, on another computer, that is
running 19.10, and I will observe, and record, the steps that occur,
in that distribution upgrade attempt.

It seems to me, that a good practice to apply, when performing (or,
attempting to perform) a distribution upgrade, is to, from starting
the process, take full desktop screenshots at each step, with, as I
have done on the system that is currently upgrading (or, attempting to
upgrade), the first screenshot being of a window showing the system
description summary, from the System Profile And Benchmark package.
