They must have renamed the group.

When I plug the device, it gets this group automatically.

Anyhow, when the device belongs to a group and is "rw" by this group,
shouldn't I be able to open this device when I am member of this group even if
it is not my primary group?

Looks like supplementary groups are not read properly?
