> Thanks, I added the ppa but settings still tell me that all software is up-to-date. Made me realise that in a month of use I've only had Livepatch updates. I would have expected more on a new machine, as the manufacturer wouldn't be installing the very latest software.

Tried removing and installing from LO site - now it doesn't load at all, from terminal, from GUI, or by clicking a previously created document.

Thank goodness for Google Docs!
