How to activate networking with systemd?

Hi
How do you start networking when you're in rescue mode? It should be
just networking, and nothing else.
I've done some googling, but it was only confusing.
I figure that this is probably just a simple command. If it isn't, then
I'll have to do more reading.
I need it for backups of my laptop. I log out of the graphical
environment, do "systemctl isolate multi-user.target" and "systemctl
isolate rescue.target" (in a virtual console). Then I start my backup
script (which makes use of dar) and it is supposed to copy the finished
backup to the external hard disk connected to my desktop.
I want to do the backup in rescue mode to avoid inconsistencies. The
system as a whole is supposed to be recoverable from the backup.
So, is this an easy question? ;-)
Cheers,
Volker
