I made a test. My very first experience with googler is, that it
doesn't improve the search, but makes a serach more worse.

I would like to see an example where googler provides better results,
than directly using Google.

[KEYWORD [KEYWORD ...]] and a few command line options doesn't improve
anything, but command line adds an additional layer of annoyance.
Apart from the additional layer of annoyance googler tries to be
smarter than the user's defaults. For what reason does it default to
German? Does it care about my IP?

I prefer to default to the English language:

$ locale
LANG=en_US.utf8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.utf8"
LC_TIME=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=C
LC_MONETARY="en_US.utf8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.utf8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.utf8"
LC_NAME="en_US.utf8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.utf8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.utf8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.utf8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.utf8"
LC_ALL=

Firefox is set to prefer English, too.

Google search with firefox:

-

1. Hit:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyphen

$ googler
Please initiate a query.
googler (? for help) -

 1.  Viertelgeviertstrich – Wikipedia
     https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viertelgeviertstrich

All other hits are German, too.

[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ man googler | grep config
       [snip] There is no configuration file as aliases serve the same
purpose for this utility. [snip]

Ok, an alias probably could solve this. But IICR it doesn't really
provide better search filters, it just provides options for what you
can do with Google and an ad remover, too:
