I suspect "update current version" already is either what I name
"update packages" or "update packages no remove". We simply drop one
option? And we already integrate "update package index files" in
"update current version"?
What next? To some extend Ubuntu and Linux in general tries to
integrate kind of a LSB, a little bit POSIX and other confusing things.
Lets make it less confusing, too.
Please! Keep in mind that Ubuntu at least needs some portability to
Debian. Keep in mind that the basic issue that things are confusing
some people are completely missing skills, not the naming pattern of
command line command options. Ubuntu provides GUIs and tries to improve
apt, but there are uncrossable limits.
One limit is, that to make Ubuntu user friendly even for absolutely
clueless users, the maintainers need advanced tools. Do you really
expect that the advanced tools should use a completely different naming
schema than the user-friendly commands?
