I don't think there is an issue with the heat, I was possibly
exaggerating a little for theatrical effect. if I have nothing else
running other than the recalcitrant processes then the fan isn't
running, when I add in the browser and some other stuff then it is
just ticking over, which probably isn't surprising. That extra 60% of
a core in use does make a significant difference to how often the fan
is on though.
Who will rid me of this troublesome process?
Actually I believe it is a kernel thread rather than a process, but
that doesn't scan.
