pop-up dialogue for sudo password?

I have a simple script that runs rsync over ssh to do a backup. I run
this script as me, from cron. It literally just runs rsync.

In 16.04, a password dialogue would pop up when the job ran, asking me
for the passphrase to the ssh key. I don't know what did that - it just
happened, and it never occurred to me to ask :-)

Now, in 20.04, that dialogue doesn't happen and my backup just fails. I
can still run it manually, so it's no big deal.

Does anyone know what that useful thing may have been in 16.04? Or
whether there is a similar thing for 20.04?

Regards, K.
