Wanted, a simple GUI calendar that uses local files, not evolution server dependent

did you consider using nextcloud ?

sudo snap install nextcloud

... open your browser with http://localhost and create the admin
account (its a bit mre complex if you have port 80 already taken by
apache though, then you want [1] ) ...

sudo nextcloud.occ app:enable calendar

... reload the web page .... click the calendar icon in the top menu,
use the calendar as you like ...
