The story as far as I can tell:-
The previous update to Revelation was to version 0.4.14-3 in 2012.
Because it had not been updated in nearly 8 years (probably because it
works absolutely fine, so if it's not broken don't go 'fixing' it) it
was dropped from 20.04.
Behind the scenes, Revelation absolutely WAS being maintained, as I
understand it, to keep up with version upgrades of Python.
Version 0.5.0 was made available 5 days ago!
I cannot find any Debian packages or ppa for it, but source is
available https://revelation.olasagasti.info/download.php which says
"You can also install Revelation from source code. Note that you then
need several development packages"
but no mention of WHICH development packages.
I've downloaded and unpacked the source file. When I do ./configure
there's a lot of lines of output but it bombs out with
<quote>
checking Python include path... /usr/include/python33.8
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for GTK... no
configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-3.0 >= 3.14) were not met:
No package 'gtk+-3.0' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GTK_CFLAGS
and GTK_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

If anybody could please suggest some development packages to install to
get this working, then many thanks to you. I occasionally do a little
command line C/C++ programming for hobby or to automate boring things
that I find myself having to repeatedly perform but getting this
install working is beyond my knowledge.
