Canon Pixma G3501 & *Ubuntu 18.04 LTS: though I CAN print, I CANNOT scan.

Hello Everybody.

At present I work at the 64 bits machine Lenovo X220 along with
Kubuntu 18.04 LTS.

When printing from this configuration, my Canon Pixma G3501 works like
a charm. My system does recognize the printer and does have the right
driver. Howwever, I do not manage to print. Three different scanning
packages also recognize the printer. Howwever, they all end up in the
same non-result. Both XSane, Simple Scan and Scanlite produce the
following feedback in the terminal:

[bjnp] bjnp_open_tcp: ERROR - Can not connect to scanner: Connection refused

This is seamingly the main problem. Is there any way to fix it?

Below, you will find error reports in detail.

Yours.

Bas.

When trying to scan from XSane, I get this feedback:

bas at Viaconsensus-iter:~$ xsane

(xsane:11399): Gtk-WARNING **: 12:37:50.869: Unable to locate theme
engine in module_path: "adwaita",

engine in module_path: "adwaita",
[bjnp] bjnp_open_tcp: ERROR - Can not connect to scanner: Connection refused
bas at Viaconsensus-iter:~$

At the graphical frontend of XSane, I get this:

"(...)
Scanning for devices....
(...)"

"(...)
Error during read: invalid argument.
(...)"

Simple scan says after hitting the scan button:

"(...)
Error communicating with scanner.
(...)"

The terminal produces this report:

bas at Viaconsensus-iter:~$ simple-scan
[bjnp] bjnp_open_tcp: ERROR - Can not connect to scanner: Connection refused

Skanlite simply says "invalid argument". The terminal produces this report:

bas at Viaconsensus-iter:~$ skanlite
