So did I, but the next day I discovered that the app, which I had shut 
down, was still running after a reboot — and presumably still reporting 
back to base on what I am doing.

I deleted it with --purge.

I will need it for a conference later in the year, unless the organiser 
change their minds, but for that I will use a sacrificial laptop which 
will have no identifiable data on it, and which I can wipe afterwards.
