Got carried away, there.  99.9% sure that rsync would simply copy the 
device *files*, and not the things they point to, unless you tried 
pretty hard to do something different.  Wups.  But still: best not to 
copy it, as /dev is (now -- didn't used to be true) dynamically 
generated as devices are discovered/removed, etc.
