Simplenote and multiple windows

I am not sure whether this is a Simplenote or Ubuntu issue.  I have
installed it (using the snap, but also tried
Simplenote-linux-1.12.0-amd64.deb from simplenote.com) and it works
fine except for that fact that I cannot open more than one window at a
time, so I can only see one note at a time.  Right clicking on the
launcher and clicking New Window just takes me to the already open
one.  I am using Ubuntu (Gnome) 19.10 but I seem the same issue on
16.04.

Any suggestions?
