18.04 has no support for my printer

Unplug the printer from the PC, then in a terminal run
tail -f /var/log/syslog
That will show the end of the system log and will sit waiting for more
logs.  Hit enter a couple of times so you get a gap in the text.  Now plug
the printer into the PC.  Copy/paste here what you see added to the
terminal.  To copy from the terminal use Ctrl-Shift-C.  When you have done
you can type Ctrl-C in the terminal to break out of the tail command.
