Query about parasitic firefox file

At the moment I'm using most of the times a combination of Icecat and
QupZill when running my Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (Xenial Xerus) install.
QupZilla is from official repositories, Icecat is the binary installed
to /opt, from the Icecat homepage.
More often I run my Arch Linux install, where I most of the times use a
combination of Firefox, Falkon and Chrome, available by official
repositories or by the Arch User Repository.
For Arch I've got other browsers installed, too, IIRC at the moment not
for Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (Xenial Xerus).
However, for some audio/video streems, Chrome works the best, for
anything else it depends, at least I don't use Chrome, if another
browser should do the job.
I'm not a really a Vivaldi user, but since Bret mentioned Opera, he
should consider to take a look at Vivaldi.
Btw.

[root at moonstudio ~]# lsb_release -d
Description: Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS
[root at moonstudio ~]# ls -hAl /usr/local/bin/firefox
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Jan 12 2016 /usr/local/bin/firefox -> icecat
I'm sharing claws configs with my Ubuntu and my Arch install. While
I've got Icecat installed for my Arch install, I still prefer Firefox
for this purpose, but on Ubuntu I use Icecat as a Firefox replacement.
It takes a while to find out what browser to use, for what
purpose, under what conditions.
I'm in favour of Firefox (and other Mozilla) releases, as well as Oprea
and QupZilla releases, that are outdated since years ago, so I nowadays
use combinmations of browsers, IOW depending on my needs I choos
different browsers.
