That's true but he made it seem he wanted something strong and fast.
I just go by what he wants. The Celeron is typically the budget of
processors. If that's fine with you that's fine by me.
It's a previous generation though, your G1840. They have gone from 22nm
to 14nm now.

A recent generation CPU/motherboard wouldn't have issues with any
desktop environment. That's more related to a harddisk I think, in Linux
these days.
KDE experiences considerable slowdown for instance until you turn all of
the search plugins off.
If you don't have a fast SSD...
(And then it's still not great, some of their designs, I mean,
whatever...).
