The Lenovo is reputed to be of higher quality than the HP, however, my experience with laptops has shown a life expectancy of around four years so I tend to think a new HP might last longer plus the HP has a 15" screen compared the the Lenovo 14" screen. Too many choices.

I just paid good money to a dealership for a 2011 laptop.

It replaced a 2008 model that I bought in 2014.

Does that not tell you important things about their robustness and
reliability as well as my level of trust in the products?

If it doesn't, it should.

Back around 2005 I visited Mark Shuttleworth's old London flat after
the launch party for Ubuntu 15.10. (He is the founder, CEO and sponsor
of Ubuntu.)

It was full of Thinkpads. Ubuntu is mostly developed on Thinkpads.

Take the hint.
