Use a flashlight and inspect all of the ports where things are being
plugged and unplugged.
The excessive plugging and unplugging may have either broken a wire within
a cable or damaged the physical connectors on a port.
Problems like this are often difficult to troubleshoot because they are
often intermittent in nature, due to the contacts/wires making intermittent
connection. Requires patience and a methodical process to verify that
everything is in fact in proper working order.
As with all problems of this nature, complete and accurate notes of all
steps taken are part of effective troubleshooting.
Best of Luck
