I have used a HP 2530p that had room for a second drive but only if you
took out the DVD player.

It also only supported the 1.8" "mini" sata format. Not micro sata, but
mini sata.

Your laptop says:

"Supports one additional hard drive which can be used concurrently to
offer expanded storage in the Ultrabay Slim Media Bay."

By all measures this appears to be your swappable drive; the unit comes
with a DVD player, but you have to take it out to install the second
HDD.

When I look at specifications for the 520, I get:

"Some: HDD / SATA 3.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm or 9.5mm high, Active
Protection Systemâ„¢"

I don't know what your HDD is but it appears almost all laptop HDD
drives will fit. 9.5mm is the standard hight of 2.5" drives.
