Getting closer on Server issue

So... do those things. Because there is no permanent storage on the
LiveCD (unless you are using a USB stick?), you will have to redo those
steps if you reboot to the LiveCD, but they only take a few seconds.

If as you say you have figured out your username and password on the
server that you are using with the LiveCD, you should be able to log in
without the LiveCD. Much more comfortable.
