Keeping an icon at a fixed location on the desktop

I have about 15-25 icons on my desktop, 16.04 xubuntu) and as I select 
and use them, their location changes, seemingly in a non-logical way.  
In order to minimize the constant searching, is there a way to fix the 
location of certain icons, so, when I want to use them, they will always 
be in a known location?
