After removing pulseaudio I get \\a to work, the "bell" command works
even if pulseaudio is installed, but since I want to use the live DVD
with old scripts, I need \\a. The bell command usually isn't installed
on my systems and it's also not installed by default for the Lubuntu
live DVD.

IOW after closing and opening lxterminal and running my script for
the second time 'echo -e \\a' works.

I like the PC speaker beep, but Ubuntu flavour defaults and pulseaudio
is getting on my nerves.
