I just spent a short amount of time trying to get echo -e "\\a" to work
in GNOME terminal (3.18.3) but couldn't. The escape sequence doesn't
cause a visual or audible bell. I also tried after these commands:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences audible-bell true
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences visual-bell true

Which bell? The echo command or the bell command? I couldn't make the
echo bell work at all.
