New box, memory problem

I'd have to agree with that. When I was checking out a replacement
motherboard, some motherboard review sites even went so far as to tell
people to avoid this motherboard totally!

They're still trying to get rid of them. :-) That was definitely not
worthwhile to save a few dollars.

The replacement motherboard is an Asus using the same AMD CPU. Even
the UEFI install went smoothly. There were a few minor glitches after
the install, but the workarounds on the net fixed those okay. Loaded
it up with a lot of software and it's been running more than a week
just fine. Working my way through a number of changes from 12.04 to
16.04. 

Disk layout was changed - SSD has efi, /, swap, and some unallocated
space. HD has /home.

Again, I'd like to thank the several folks who helped me!!!
