Glad you've found a resolution.

Suggestions:

* move swap from SSD to HD. (Yes, it's slower, but swapping wears out
SSDs. As you have a lot of RAM, you shouldn't need swap much anyway.)

* Mount all SSD filesystems with ``noatime'' (It's a flag in
/etc/fstab. Google for details.) Faster & saves wear.

* Consider disabling journalling on filesystems on SSD. (This is a
command-line operation.) Again, faster & saves wear.
