problems for installing software: What is the code that has to be sent to download and install software from Universe?

This is not normal. It may be easier for us to understand what is
going on if you open a terminal and run
sudo apt-get install the_package_name
replacing the_package_name with the name of the package you are trying
to install, and copy/paste the complete output here. To copy from the
terminal use Ctrl+Shift+C
