Blanked screen never returns

On the laptop - no.  I completely forgot about that.  I'll try this weekend
when I'll be using it.

On the desktop, no - it's running with an ASRock Z97 Pro5 m/b with the
onboard video controller.  My config file says that's an nvidia, but lsmod
shows an i915 driver, so I don't think that's it.

However, last night I installed the nvidia driver, which made no difference
so I uninstalled it, and this morning the blanking operation is working
again.
