monitors not showing up in settings

Running Ubuntu 15.10
After the last update, when I go into settings and click on displays it 
shows a screen that says: Could not get screen information.
I added a new monitor to my system and went in to tweak it, but get the 
above message. I replaced it with the old monitor and
still get the same message. Any ideas?
