network goes down unexpectedly.

I am sure that wireless connections will be disconnected not sure of wired
connections.
when it is disconnected, ifconfig shows no ip info.
but the state of the network manger indicators that the connection is still
established.
when i click
enable wifi or disable wifi.
it sometimes makes no difference.
