I don't think I've ever actually answered anyone on this particular
mailing list before. I have read the rules so hopefully this is
relatively error free.
I'm fond of these books; The Linux Bible. Linux in a Nutshell, Linux
System Administration, and (believe it or not) Linux All-in-One for
Dummies. I've got copies of all of them and have found them useful
even today. They make great "spare time" reading.
I think all of the ones that I've mentioned are in dead-tree format or
electronic format. I do not have them to-hand right now. I don't
recall them being expensive, for what they were, so you can probably
find them used at your favorite book-selling site.
The other is just learning to search effectively. Throw in Ubuntu or
Linux in your search terms and see what pops out. I have a special
Google account (I know, I know) that I use. It is one that I
specifically set for them to track my searches and refine my results.
It works. I don't use it all the time and I keep their scripts and
cookies locked down with a browser extension.
Rather than direct you to a specific site, I'd just try a bunch of
them. Eventually, you'll find one that suits your style and has the
information you're looking for. There are some good forums, for
example. There are some not-quite-so-good forums and you'll have to
find those on your own as I'm disinclined to pass judgment.
(This is signed. Hopefully the list supports signed emails, I've not
seen anything about that.)
