You might like to look at Eudora OSE, which is a fork or a predecessor
of Thunderbird. It looks and works like T/B, but it is not modified every
few weeks. I was having various problems with T/B on Windows recently,
one of which is that it would not open until about 100 old messages
were cleared ONE AT A TIME! I have had no problem with Eudora OSE. In
Linux, I have converted to a different fork, FossaMail, which also
looks and works like Thunderbird. Fossa and I _believe_ Eudora has
filter files compatible with T/B, so you can replace the new unused file
with a copy of the T/B one. (Make sure to save a copy of the original,
in case this should not work.)
