Title bar/menu problem on 14.04

Yes, as have we all, but the point here is that the menus in the
titlebar, rather than beneath it, is a new feature. No GUI has ever
done this before.

It was introduced in the most recent LTS release:

You're not used to it because until Ubuntu 14.04 nothing else ever
used it, and none of the other desktops I suggested use it. The fact
that you have said that you did not notice that some apps have a
separate menu bar and some do not implies that you are not sensitive
to such issues. However, none of LXDE, Xfce, Cinnamon or Maté use
menus-in-the-title-bar. All of them have a separate in-window menu
bar.
